Quote of the Day Period Only SQJ Knows

December 13th, 2005 · No Comments

OK… here’s a new recurring feature of the blog. Quote of the Day POSK.
I wish I post a quote every day… but I don’t want to be forced to put up some lame quote just because it is called “Quote of the Day”. So… it is now officially called: Quote of the POSK.

These first few installments come with an added bonus. Here’s the deal.
Each of these quotes is taken from a great book I’ve read. They appear before each chapter. I’m going to reproduce them here for you to enjoy… think about… link to… etc.

AND HERE’S THE TWIST: If you can guess which book they are from… I’ll buy you a book. It might be this book… or another one I have in mind… or something from your Amazon.com wishlist. You DO have a wishlist at Amazon.com, right? I know you probably won’t get it right away… but there are a few quotes and I think someone might be able to figure it out. I’ll give hints along the way.

From: Francis Schaeffer - A Christian Manifesto

These two world views [Judeo-Christian theism and secular humanism] stand as totals in complete antithesis to each other in content and also in their natural results–including sociological and governmental results, and specifically including law.It is not that these two world views are different only in how they understand the nature of reality and existence. They also inevitably produce totally different results. The operative word here is inevitably. It is not just that they happen to bring forth different results, but it is absolutely inevitable that they will bring forth different results.
