SQJ Taipei

The name of the blog might seem strange to you… I guess the Taipei is self-explanatory… but what does SQJ mean?
Any guesses?

hmmmm…. no.

Here’s the scoop. My first year of college at OCC… I was living on Boatman 3rd and my roommate was Ted. We were the next to last room on our floor so the only guys we saw walk past our room were the guys at the end of the hall. I can’t even remember the guy’s name now… but I think it was Steve something… and Ted and I called him “Spanky” after the Our Gang character to whom we believed he bore a striking resemblance. Anyway… I guess it bugged him because one day he passed our open door and we greeted him in the usual way… “HEY SPANKY!” He came right back to our door and stepped in and pointed at us and paused a few seconds… obviously searching for the right retort… then he called Ted,”Lenny” and then pointed my direction and said “Squiggy”. Then he went on down the hallway. So… Lenny didn’t stick with Ted… but thanks to Ted, Squiggy did stick with me and he even added a Jahmal to it because it seemed even funnier (he’s right IMO). So… since then… about 1990… I’ve been known by some people as Squiggy Jahmal… Squiggy… Squiggy J… or… abbreviated as SQJ.

So… there you have it!

Now… can anyone tell me who Lenny and Squiggy were/are?
