Since the Alamo Bowl there has been much discussion about the crazy last play. I thought you might enjoy some links…
Here’s a good link to the play itself… there are 2 seconds remaining in the game when the play starts… and the play lasts for 45 seconds.
LAST PLAY
Here’s an ESPN link to the game highlights.
ESPN LINK
Let me know if that link doesn’t work. It is possible you might need to install ESPN’s “Motion” software to view the video. You should have that anyway IMHO. ![]()
If you don’t want the game highlights and just want to see the last play, use the first link (above) instead.
edit: I just checked this out and the video at this link works, but the regular highlights of the game have been replaced with a few clips basically focusing on calls that went against Michigan. I’ll leave it up, but it might be nice if they’d have also showed the calls that went against Nebraska, but… who cares now I guess. Michigan fans, probably.
After watching the play, you might ask… “Why weren’t there any penalty flags thrown?”
Good question… there probably should have been. It is easy to see in the video that there are members of the media all over the field… the Michigan coaches and sideline staff are easy to spot out on the field (blue and gold clothes)… but apparently there are even MORE from the Nebraska sideline it just doesn’t show on this video and, interestingly, didn’t interfere with the play. The NCAA coordinator of officiating said there should have been flags thrown on each team… offsetting penalties… and the play would not have been replayed. So… the game is finally over and the discussion about the last play should be over… yeah right.
NY TIMES link about the official ruling on the last play. (This will probably be the only time I link the NYT without mocking them.)
