Needless to say… I like this book a lot. In fact, I’d call it one of the 10 most influential books I’ve ever read. The reviews at Amazon.com are only a click away for you so I figure that’s easy enough and they all write better than me does… so click on over and read.

I was first interested in this book because of it’s title… because we have a NATIONAL vision for planting churches here in Taiwan. We aren’t praying for one congregation of a few hundred or thousand people… but for the NATION to come to Christ! Our hard work will win SOME… but only God’s power can win a NATION.

Miller’s book is about development… something not really applicable to Taiwan… but the way he approaches it would be valuable to any Christian. I love these books that finely “walk the line”. In this case… the line he walks is that one between the extreme opinions commonly offered regarding helping the poor.

• They won’t listen to you talk about Jesus if they are starving.
• Preach the word.

The sections covering worldviews would work well in a book just about worldviews… but the way Miller introduces them in order to bring more perspective on the work ahead of us is masterful.

A great work… a great mission… a great task. Let’s go for it… together!
