Presentation Tips - 10/20/30 rule

January 4th, 2006 · 2 Comments

As a venture capitalist… this guy has heard his share of presentations and would seem to be a good one to listen to about some basic tips for presentations. I know most of my readers (all 3 of you) make presentations from time to time… so thought you might find this helpful.

Here’s another link to a site with some great tips for presentations.

i dont know what i think about the ‘venture capitalist’ agenda, but i did find this helpful.

    10slides 20min atleast 30pt font.

I usually dont use powerpoint, because i run into the problem of sinking a ton of time into something that has neither any power nor a point. BUT this has given me a little more of a handle on how to frame up a presentation.

    thanks!

something that has neither any power nor a point

That is hilarious… and true for most people I think… and most of the powerpoint presentations I’ve witnessed.

I thought this line was great:
If “thirty points,” is too dogmatic, the I offer you an algorithm: find out the age of the oldest person in your audience and divide it by two. That’s you’re [sic] optimal font size.
