That’s me… shrewd as a snake.
Matthew 10:16 is one of the verses in the Bible that I don’t really get…
Jesus says to his disciples, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.”
I thought of that verse today when I went to the Post Office to pay my bills. (But SQJ you’ve lived in Taiwan for almost 7 years now… don’t you know that the Post Office is for mailing letters???) Um… yeah… but here you can also pay your bills there… in today’s case it was our health insurance. ANYWAY…
I take a number (237) and glance at the board… 227 is up… so I have a bit to wait so I lean up against the counter and get my money ready… after waiting a few minutes… I hear #230 called and as I glance down on the countertop… I see the slip with the #230 just sitting there… apparently the original #230 got tired of waiting or whatever and just left their slip on the counter… well, I shrewdly grabbed the #230 slip and stepped up to the counter… paid my $$ and headed out the door.
I’m not sayin’ Jesus had this in mind when he said those words we read in Matthew… I’m just sayin’ I thought of the verse as I was walkin’ out the door after saving myself about 10 minutes… that’s all I’m sayin’.

haha, way to be! do the numbers at the PO go by increments of 8? would they never have 234?
i got on bus 4 today on my way to school, the bus stopped at a bus stop to pick up passengers. There was only a chinese lady standing at the bus stop, she looked at the bus number and slowly backed away from the bus.
maybe it was the wrong bus for her, but then again, maybe she didn’t like 4
