Yeah… it’s back… In case you’ve just joined us this is a regular feature on the blog… “Quote of the Period Only SQJ Knows”. The last series of quotes were actually part of a contest… which was great fun for the 3 readers of this blog and Sean C. won a great book. We will DEFINITELY have more contests… but most of the quotes will just be like this one… something I read that I thought you might enjoy reading… and maybe generate some discussion in the comments? Remember… if you don’t comment… you are just letting the terrorists win. jk.

From: House Church Networks - by Larry Kreider

Let me remind you again of what Dr. Peter Wagner has told us for years. “The single most effective way to evangelize is to plant new churches.”Fuller Theological Seminary found in a study that if a church is ten or more years old, it takes 85 people to lead one person to Christ. If the church is 4-7 years old, it takes seven people to lead one to Christ. If a church is less than 3 years old, it takes only three people to lead one to Christ.

New churches give the opportunity for more people to come to faith in Christ. Let’s plant new churches in homes all over our communities, and reach more people for Jesus! I wholeheartedly ascribe to these words I saw on a plaque at a friend’s house: “Save the World, Plant a Church.” As house churches are planted, they will rapidly reproduce within an area. The house church network will continue to grow, and there will be more and more opportunities to reach the lost.

So, the theory in America is the more people you have in church the better chance you have of winning people to Christ. The bigger the church, the more 85’s you have to win the one. Just wondering why having huge churces is so attractive.
