“The place where my blue lightsaber is”

That is where Josh wants to go.

Josh is my 3rd child… or in Chinese we’ll affectionately say “old #3″.

This trip has been hard for him (as it has on all of us in various ways). He’ll be 4 in a week and he’s at a time where he still doesn’t have a grasp on concepts like “time” and “space” and so he knows we aren’t in Taiwan… but that we aren’t really in any place permanent… some at Mimi’s… some at Gramma & Pappa’s… some at “Hop-A-Long Hollow”… some at Shelby and Lance’s… and a night or 2 at other places occasionally.

So… Josh longs to go to “the place where my blue lightsaber is”. In adult language… he wants to go to Taiwan. He isn’t choosing Taiwan over America or Chinese friends over his cousins here… or the guy who gives him soymilk over the grandparents… I think he’s just saying that he feels most at home when he’s around things that are familiar to him… and at this time in his life… “home” is wherever the blue lightsaber is.

In the next few weeks we’ll take Josh from Bellevue, to Colorado Springs, to Bellevue, to Louisville, to St. Louis… and to Joplin. And I’m sure he’ll continue to start his sentences thusly….

“After this trip… When we get to the place where my blue light saber is…”

Ah, poor little guy. I’ll be praying extra hard for him–and for the rest of you, too. Looking forward to seeing you all SOON! :)

Man – I am really not looking forward to furlough. The one thing kids need is stability and furlough is the opposite of that. Hang in there.
