Bible Swap

June 30th, 2006 · 1 Comment

I already blogged about the North American Christian Convention. Now I have more.

After yesterday’s main session… I’m even more sure that this series of meetings will be seen as a turning point. But we can’t yet see what the future holds, of course… not exactly anyways.

I’m fairly sure that persecution is coming… and others I trust with these matters seem to confirm that… but of course we can’t know for sure… what we CAN know is this:

  • God is moving
  • When God is moving… He has His reasons

What might the reasons be? Perhaps He is now helping His people “circle the wagons” or “assume attack formation”? I don’t know… but I can tell you that the Church is stronger today than yesterday and that I know that indeed God is smiling on this convention.

If you hear nothing else about this convention… you’ll probably hear about the “Great Bible Swap”… Jeff Walling (an acapella brother) offered his favorite bible (in tears and trembling) to Dave Stone (the senior minister of the largest Christian church) and Stone accepted it and reciprocated. Then other important figures from each group did the same… college presidents… authors… preachers… worship leaders…

I know it was contrived in some ways… but the emotions were very real… and so were the intentions. At least it is a start, right?

Today we’ll hear from Rick Atchley… who preaches at the largest acapella church in the country… and I’ll let you know how it goes, OK? In the meantime… is there anyone in your community you might need to swap bibles with?

I love reading this blog (with the possible exception of some of the tech related stuff!) Thanks for the food for thought in so many posts as well as the fun stuff in so many others.
    Love you,
    Annie aka Mrs. SQJ
