I’ve gone light on my fantasy sports entries the last couple years. Taking the top spot in my 20 team league a few years ago took more time than I wanted to spend and I have nothing to show for it except for a big trophy on my Yahoo Fantasy Sports shelf…

But I’m ready to get back in this year. I’m in 2 fantasy football leagues and I’m spending time getting my draft right so I hopefully won’t have to waste as much time later in the season.
Here’s my first fantasy football team… drafted in this order last night… the league is made up of 18 teams… with 15 players each… and I picked a real life starter in every round. (pats self on back)
1. (7) Tiki Barber RB
2. (30) “Fast” Willie Parker RB
3. (43) Eli Manning QB
4. (66) Donald Driver WR
5. (79) Donte Stallworth WR
6. (102) Drew Bennett WR
7. (115) Frank Gore RB
8. (138) Chris Simms QB
9. (151) Ben Troupe TE
10. (174) Kevan Barlow RB
11. (187) Rex Grossman QB
12. (210) Robert Ferguson WR
13. (223) Wali Lundy RB
14. (246) New Orleans DEF
15. (259) Stephen Gostkowski K
If you don’t know… in fantasy football… running backs are the absolute key to winning. Having good RBs doesn’t guarantee success but you absolutely cannot win without them (with the possible exception made if you have Peyton Manning)… and I have 5 starting RBs out of 32 NFL teams. I like my chances. The only pick that hurt was Chris Simms because I hate Texas… but that’s the way it goes in fantasy sports sometimes.
The only pick I was concerned about was Ben Troupe in round 9. I was debating between him and Kevan Barlow and between looking at kids’ art projects and stuff I choked and took Troupe. I thought Barlow would be gone in the 10th round… but he was still there… so no harm done.
Not that you care… but here’s the link to the Spain FF League.
