Hugh Hewitt is a Christian blogger and I often find his take on various current and historical events to be helpful in forming my own opinions.
While working on the computer today, I listened to his radio show from Christmas Eve when his guest was pastor Mark D. Roberts. I’ve never heard of Pastor Roberts before, but I was very impressed with him. They talked about Christmas and how it originated and what it has become. They discuss Christmas carols, pageants, symbols, and traditions. I learned some things and was reminded of some things… and I think that anyone who is interested in issues of how the Bible interacts with culture and tradition would really enjoy these programs.
I especially enjoyed the way that Pastor Roberts addressed the historical issues that tradition has certainly gotten wrong: the innkeeper… the 3 kings visiting Jesus at the stable… the date of birth… etc. He is clearly *very* knowledgeable and is really easy to listen to. This is in hour 3.
Here are the links to the radio program split into 3 parts. You also have the option to register at Townhall.com and download all 3 as a podcast. These are stripped of ads and so they aren’t a full hour, but about 35 minutes instead.

I hope you all had a great Christmas.
Blessings to all.
