Greg Wright talks “The Hobbit”

Probably all of us who enjoy “The Lord of the Rings” are eager for the movie version of “The Hobbit”… and I’d prefer to just let Peter Jackson do it as he did a great job with the trilogy.

“The Hobbit” is a different book though… and it is clear that when Tolkien wrote it he wasn’t thinking of it being the first of a series. He even re-wrote parts of it later to reconcile it with things he wrote in “The Lord of the Rings”.

I’m reading The Hobbit to the kids right now… and had forgotten how FUNNY it is in many places. Hobbits are a wonderful literary creation.

I don’t pay attention to entertainment news much at all… I usually just let Jen tell me what I need to know… but this was a good read about a movie that I know that I want to see.

It also talks about making a second Hobbit movie to fill in the time between Bilbo’s return from his quest and Frodo’s leaving on his. It is true that there would be a compelling story there… but it seems a little strange since Tolkien didn’t actually write about it that I know of. Maybe he’s got it in some notes or something?
