I’ve been meaning to post on this for a while… but kept struggling with how to make it seem as simple as it is. Sometimes we tend to make simple things sound more complex and especially with computer stuff. Basically, I want something that people who aren’t comfortable with the computer can do. RSS is really simple… in fact that is part of what RSS stands for! RSS = Really Simple Syndication Jon at Servant of the King found an AWESOME video to teach about RSS in plain English. Let me break this post into 2 parts for you… the first part is the video about RSS in plain English… the second is how to get all my blog posts delivered to your email inbox if you use Thunderbird. If you are less comfortable messing around with the computer or if you think it would be cool to be able to go to ONE WEB PAGE and read all the news and blogs you are interested in… just look at part one. If you use another email program… you might be able to do something similar… I would guess that the Mail program on a Mac makes it easy like in Thunderbird. I would also suspect that the latest versions of Outlook and maybe Outlook Express will also do this.

For Thunderbird 2.0 & 1.5

1. Click File… New… Account…
2. Then choose RSS News & Blogs
3. Give it a name… whatever you want… News & Blogs is probably about right
4. Then click “Finish”
5. You will see a new group of folders in the left pane called “News & Blogs” or whatever you called it.
6. click on that new group
7. in the right pane, click on Manage Subscriptions
8. Click Add
9. paste this link into the feed URL box: http://feeds.feedburner.com/SqjTaipei
10. close the box
11. now you should see SQJTaipei listed below “News & Blogs” and you just click on that and see the posts in your email pane! New posts will show up automatically!

Personally… I like Google Reader and Angie likes to view via Thunderbird. Options are good!
