NOTE FROM SQJ: Kim wrote this several weeks ago… I’m just getting around to posting it now… it is a little dated, but I think I’ll leave it as is
Well, I’m not sure how to follow up on Jordan’s amazing account of our experiences, but I’ll do my best. So this trip is awesome!! I don’t know where to start. Well, the first couple days was pretty cool, we mostly just hung out at Scott’s house getting rested up from the jet lag and what not. But lately we’ve been on the go from place to place just sharing God’s love. We spent a couple days doing teen activites with local youth in Taidong. I have a pretty sweet testimony about some girls Jess and I got to talk to but you’ll just have to wait and hear it when I get home. A couple days ago we got blessed with fifteen tickets to a hot springs spa…. Ya… that’s right. Never thought I’d get to chill in a Green Tea Pool. Unfortunately the downside of the day would be all of our beautiful red shoulders. The next day we got to go to the ocean and spend the whole day there. It was so amazing. We go to go snorkeling and stuff. Greg decided to give us all nicknames so in honor of him giving me the not so favored name Kimothy, we decided that his flame swimtrucks made a perfectly good reason to give him the name captain firepants. Not to mention how much of a super hero he looked like with his shirt tied around his neck to block the sun. So there I was, in the pacific ocean, with a few of my closest friends, as captain fire pants entertained us all with his stories about how he really lost his favorite toes. Yesterday we took communion on our own at the house we stayed at so Scott showed me how to make communion bread (Jesus bread). We also went to this super sweet store where me and melisa ate some tea.. yea we ate it. For the most part I love everyone on our team… I’ve yet to get tired of Daniel asking all of us if we would ever marry him..although no one has said yes yet. WE haven’t had any troubles yet really, aside from the sunburns.. at church Tim told everyone in Chinese that us American’s looked like Lobsters and Shrimp, well me and Audrey are the lobsteriest lobsters of them all. Tonight we start VBS and I’m super psyched. We haven’t had Don Bing in like three days which is way too many so I’m very exciting to get to order one for breakfast tomorrow.. Don Bing being one of the key words to my Chinese vocabulary. I can now say thank you, good morning, and the name of what I want to eat, really I’m not sure what else I need to know. Any way, God is really doing some awesome stuff here. I love the language and I’m trying hard to learn more. The whole team pretty much rocks my socks. I couldn’t have asked for a better one. I hope you all keep my in your prayers as I do my best to do God’s will, please pray that VBS goes smoothly and that everyone stays healthy. Oh and next week is sports camp which is what I’ve been waiting for! Definitely pray that lives are changed while we get the chance to interact with so many teenagers. I miss everyone sooo much! Can’t wait to see you when I get home! Frankie, you better be learnin how to play that guitar! I love you all so much, take care,
With love, Kim
P.S. MOM, Jordan really is the exact opposite of Kass but I’ll explain that when I get home, give Kaden a kiss for me!
