Tigers Love To Devour Corn, Apparently

Bad day for all my teams.

Although I predicted that the 2nd most likely result would be a blowout Mizzou win… I’d rather be wrong than have my Huskers on the wrong end of a 41-6 game. NU’s defense was “as advertised” — bad. But NU’s offense was horrid… or MU’s D was great… not sure which. I actually figured 45 points would win the game… so I blame NU’s offense for not getting there. With all the other upsets this week, Mizzou’s 5-0 record is looking REALLY great. I’m still not sure we’ve learned much about these teams… although we probably learned that NU will have a new defensive coordinator next season if not next week.

My new second favorite team, Minnesota, lost to Indiana 40 - 20 which was a must win to save their season. I’m told that 2009 will be their year. Well… I’ll stay tuned… but that sounds like a long wait right now.

My favorite rugby team, The All Blacks of New Zealand, also went down in a major upset in the Rugby World Cup… losing 20-18 to host nation France. They were HEAVILY favored to win the tournament this year. The 2011 RWC is in New Zealand so perhaps that will turn out better. Perhaps by that time, the USA Eagles will field a competitive squad, although they were impressive on occasion during pool play, particularly in their match with England, who are the defending champs and winners over Australia yesterday in what was a HUGE upset.

Fortunately, my Xbox Ncaa football dynasty with Nebraska and my campus legend with Minnesota are looking pretty good. So at least there’s that. And there’s always next year… right Cubs fans?

But England is still in the world cup so that should cheer us all up!
But I’m pretty bummed that Fiji and Scotland both lost. All my underdogs are out now!
Sorry about Nebraska. I’m glad we won but I know it meant more to you than me since you actually follow college football.

We will be lucky to win another game. They are playing prety uninspired football.
