DAY 1 - RIDE 1 - VEHICLE 1
Bethanie attends dance class on Mondays (ballet) and Thursdays (traditional Chinese). Angie takes her on Mondays and I take her on Thursdays. When I take her, we leave about 5:15PM and she has class from 6 to 7:30… actually it is about 7:45 before she is done and ready [...]

Kissed George Brett’s Ring

That’s what Yahoo! Sports’ Brad Evans thinks Alex Gordon did at the end of May.
In writing about the former Nebraska Cornhusker and #2 MLB Draft pick, Evans writes,
You see, Gordon (13.9% owned) is fantasy’s version of a wedding crasher. In other words, he’s an irresistible, ultra-hyped preseason sleeper who shows up fashionably late to the [...]
Wanna Bet?

I really enjoy playing golf. Wish I could play more in Taiwan… but WAY too expensive in the Taipei area and I just don’t have the time to play as much as I would want to in order to play well.
So… here at my house… we do the next best thing… go to the driving range occasionally [...]

Fat Guy update
May 18th, 2007 · No Comments
I thought this would get missed if I just added it to the Running For Fat Guys post down below so I’m making a new post.
Michael from Seday in Taiwan commented asking me about my shoes and also quoting Donkey from Shrek… cool.
As I told Michael… I’m actually embarassed to share about the shoes I [...]

Running For Fat Guys

I’ve never been an exercise junkie… but I’ve always preferred to be outside and playing sports.
The problem the last few years is that it HURTS. Combined with time pressures of changing jobs, etc… the pain factor was seriously limiting.
I’ve had back trouble for a long time… but the biggest factor was actually my feet. I [...]

Here’s a picture of me and some friends at the top of Taipei 101… actually we are only at the 91st floor which is as high as you can go unless you are an elevator maintenance person!
Bart is on the left and Ramon is in the middle… he’s the one who actually got us [...]

Climbing 101 training update
May 3rd, 2007 · No Comments
I climbed 122 flights of stairs tonight… the 101 climb is only 91…
piece of cake!
probably not… but I feel like I’ll be able to make it!
The climb is only 3 days away… I might do 60-80 tomorrow and 40 or so on Friday and I think I’ll be ready to go on Saturday AM.

Because it’s there… and for charity
April 28th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Sorry I didn’t mention this sooner!
Angie did include it in our recent email update so it might not be new to you.
On May 5th… at 10AM local time… I’ll start up the stairs of the world’s tallest building, Taipei 101. My goal is to reach the 91st floor observation deck.
This is a rare opportunity [...]

Greatest Sports Ad Ever?
April 3rd, 2007 · No Comments
Of course, I haven’t seen them all… and especially not many the last few years while I’ve been in Taiwan, but this one is probably the best I’ve seen that I can recall right now. Have you seen some other good ones? Leave comments and links to them if you find them online.

Beyond the Ultimate

To me… when celebrities… athletes… entertainers… reference God or “the man upstairs” it usually kinda rings hollow. Mrs. SQJ wouldn’t be so cynical… but I just find it hard to think that some particiular artist’s lyrical body of work would make “the Big Kahuna” all that pleased and I really don’t think God cares much [...]
