See Taiwan… at 200+MPH

January 22nd, 2007 · 1 Comment

The long-awaited High Speed Rail is finally finished and is operational.
To to surprise of many (not me) so far the total number of trains that have spontaneously exploded upon leaving the station is ZERO.
ZERO is also the same number of HSR trains lying in a rice field after derailing.
They are still working out some kinks [...]

January 11th, 2007 · No Comments

Surprisingly… I was never affected that I could tell.
Over the last couple weeks, I’ve found myself thinking about how they would go about fixing those cables… [...]

A unique way to keep warm

January 4th, 2007 · No Comments

Here’s a story about a village in the Italian Alps that has a visionary mayor.
The village lies in a valley that is so steep that in the winter… direct sunlight can’t reach the village.
So… he put a mirror up on the top of a mountain and it reflects the sun down into the streets.
I love [...]

New SPAM filter

January 3rd, 2007 · 1 Comment

No… not that SPAM.
The kind where the comments section of your blog gets filled with ads like your email inbox does. Unless your email is hosted by whoever hosts mine because it has a wonderful spam filter… worth any price being paid.
First I tried to have a little keyword to type in… but some spammers [...]

mac.com slow for you?

December 30th, 2006 · 2 Comments

I’m curious. I just had my 2nd teammate move their website and blog over to a mac.com address. I can understand why people do that… but…
I have found that the sites hosted there load *much* slower than any other host. I’m curious… are they slow for you too?
I’m guessing that it is similar to why [...]

Like the larger font-size?

December 29th, 2006 · No Comments

I’m not sure why I didn’t increase the font size on the blog a long time ago. I’ve always thought that I would change the theme… but that may not happen… so… I hope you like the larger font.
I’m still hoping to change the theme someday… yeah… that’ll be the day.

You know I like to pass along technology related tools that I think might be helpful… here’s another one.
ZAMZAR.COM
I don’t know what the name means, but you can go to that website… upload some files… and convert them to several different file types. Since it is done through a web browser (and the the link [...]

C64 rulez

December 16th, 2006 · 4 Comments

I know faithful reader Sean C had a Commodore 64. Anyone else?
I did not… as I had the sweet Commodore VIC 20… but I’m familiar with some of the C64 games.
Sean C and the rest of you retro gamerz (Sean had Colonization installed on his computer the last time I was at his house) will [...]
